Monterey County Wine Country is nominated for ‘Best 10’ in the United States today

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA – Congratulations, Santa Lucia Highlands Wine Country!

The Monterey County wine community is one of 20 communities nationwide to be nominated by USA Today as a 10th Readers’ Choice nominee for “Best Wine Region”.

The 20 nominees, selected by wine industry experts, will be narrowed down to the top 10 via readers online votingwhich ends Monday, August 2 at 9 a.m.

“The Santa Lucia Highlands is a small but mighty wine appellation in Monterey County that grows the best pinot noirs and chardonnays in California,” according to the Santa Lucia Highlands Wine Makers professional group, representing more than 50 producers.

The Monterey County region faces stiff competition in the US readership survey, especially from other California wine regions. Also nominated for Golden State’s “Best 10”: Anderson Valley; Lodi; Mendocino; Napa Valley; Paso Robles; Russian River Valley; Sonoma Coast; and the Temecula Valley; with Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California.

Other select wine regions across the United States are in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, New York, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, plus one in Canada.

The Santa Lucia Highlands trade group is planning its annual Sun, Wind & Wine Festival in 2022, with 40 winemakers pouring their bottlings, accompanied by bites by chefs from restaurants across the Monterey Peninsula. Follow him even there.
