Saint Lucia announces the start of the 2022-2023 cruise season

The Ministry of Tourism is pleased to announce the start of the 2022/2023 cruise season with the arrival of Celebrity Millennium on Wednesday 12e October 2022.

Since the sector reopened in 2021 amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the island has recorded a total of three hundred and seventeen (317) cruise calls and hosted two hundred and forty thousand five hundred and sixty-seven (240 567) cruise passengers on the coasts of Saint Lucia during the period from June 2021 to September 2022.

As the sector remains a high priority to drive demand for Saint Lucia as a tourist destination, the Ministry of Tourism forecasts a robust season where various sub-sectors including sites and attractions, local aquatic sector, catering, tourism, transport and leisure will have a new opportunity to reap the economic benefits of the cruise industry.

The Department of Tourism recognizes the importance of the cruise industry to many operators, including tourism transportation, vendors, small business owners in communities, sites and attractions, restaurants, and other stakeholders in industry.

Thus, this meeting will serve to put in place measures to improve the product and prepare stakeholders to better enjoy the season. As part of the meeting, the ministry will also discuss recently updated travel protocols and cruise port logistics on thursday 29e September 2022.
