Saint Lucia honors travel agents with the 2022 Global Piton Awards

The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) has honored the world’s best-selling Saint Lucia travel agents, following the organization of the 2022 Global Piton Awards.

The awards honored Saint Lucia’s top expert travel advisors from the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland and the Caribbean.

From VIP arrival services to personalized experiences, including Luxe Lucian Lime, Gros-Islet Street Party and a cocktail reception at the Prime Minister’s official residence, advisers were celebrated with an immersive weekend from 10 to November 14.

The weekend ended with an awards ceremony at Sandals Grande St. Lucian, where the top 35 winners were honored for their contributions to St. Lucia tourism in a time of regeneration.

The Global Piton Awards 2022 were awarded to the travel advisors who booked the most nights from July 1, 2019 to December 31, 2021, through the Saint Lucia Expert (SLEx) program created in partnership with Recommend magazine.

Fifteen winners come from the United States, five from Canada and 10 from the United Kingdom and Ireland. For the first time, the Caribbean market joined the global mix honoring five travel professionals.

They all received the exclusive “Mark insignia” of Saint Lucia as well as a locally handcrafted trophy.

“At a time when the world viewed tourism as the main economic driver, our travel advisors and carriers placed particular trust in Saint Lucia. Much of our success and worldwide notoriety is attributed to their continued sale of our island offerings. They undoubtedly remain the pulse of our industry and we are delighted to express our appreciation to them,” said Lorine Charles St. Jules, Chief Executive Officer of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority.

Tropic Breeze’s Trish Hockin received the Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Sales for the top-selling tour operator in the UK and Europe.

Independent travel agent Sheila Sparkes of HolidaysPlease has received the Minister for Tourism’s Award for her outstanding sales performance in the UK and Ireland.

The pinnacle of sales excellence was achieved by Nancy Finn of My Island Getaways who received the Prime Minister’s Award for Outstanding Sales Performance in North America and the Caribbean.

Air Antilles, Air Canada, American Airlines, British Airways, Capo Rosso, Caribbean Airlines, Delta, Inter Caribbean Airlines, JetBlue, L’Express des Iles, LIAT, Sunwing, TUI, United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and WestJet were honored for their support and commitment to the destination with the SLTA Partnership Awards.
